The Bible
JESUS, OUR LORD AND MASTER, BELIEVED AND TAUGHT THAT THE SPIRIT OF
GOD INSPIRED THE AUTHORS
OF HOLY SCRIPTURE.
He affirmed the complete and total authority of the Jewish Bible (the Law, the Prophets and the Writings = the “Old” Testament) and established the basis for the authority of those later apostolic writings relating to him and his work (the “New” Testament).
Thus, we believe that the 66 books of the Old and New Testament in their entirety originated with God and were, in fact, given through his chosen prophets and apostles. Scripture is God-breathed and true. At one and the same time it speaks with the authority of God and reflects the backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors. We hold that the Scripture is without error in all that it teaches and is the unique, full, and final authority, the infallible guide on all matters of faith and conduct, and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God.
