WE BELIEVE THAT THERE IS ONE - AND ONLY ONE -
TRUE, HOLY CREATOR GOD.
In the beginning God created out of nothing the universe, seen and unseen, and all the things that are in it, thus manifesting the glory of his power, wisdom, and goodness. By his sovereign power He continues to sustain his creation. By his providence He is working throughout history to fulfill his redemptive purposes. He has revealed himself to the human race in many and diverse ways, but his definitive disclosure of Himself is in his revelation to Israel, culminating in his final and authoritative Word in Jesus Christ. Thus, he is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the “God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”.
The first followers of Jesus came to recognize, as believing, monotheistic Jews, that Jesus is worthy of the same worship and prayer that is due to the eternal God and that Jesus’ Spirit is a distinct and personal divine entity living and working in his Church. Thus, the People of God rightly concluded that God Himself, although ONE GOD, eternally exists in THREE PERSONS - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - each of Whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality. This is the central mystery of the Faith.
